[sub] tonari no chikara - episode 2

back with episode 2! might want to grab some tissues, just in case, because this episode is kind of a tearjerker.
subs for episode 2. timed to the magicstar raw on nyaa, untested with the arashigoodies file. i likely won't check it for future episodes either (because i'm lazy).
before watching, please read the translation note regarding the narration if you haven't done so already. (also, i rewrote it a bit for further clarification.)
translation notes for episode 2 are just some translations for chikara's post-its. i don't think there was anything else that needed a translation note probably, but i might be wrong, so leave a comment if anything was unclear.
translation notes - episode 2
chikara's post-its:

1: don't use the microwave when you're by yourself
2: take your phone with you when going out

3: let's watch the cherry blossoms together in spring
4: let's go watch the fireworks in summer

i enjoy reading people's thoughts by the way, so feel free to share them if you feel so inclined (remember to use the spoiler tag!).

Just finished watching the episode!
Loved the 99.9 reference made by Airi.
I'm glad that Chikara is married to Akari. Her saying no first is only out of concern for him, but they're both genuinely good people and their dynamic works.
That bit about Chikara not minding the grandma repeating her story and letting Takuya cry on his shoulders were really heartfelt.
I suspected the grandma had dementia and it must suck for Takuya to have his only family forget about him. His outbursts were justified. Like yea, his grandma raised him and now he has the obligation to return the favour. It's his only family after all. But I also I understand his feelings of wanting to be selfish and doing things for himself. He's also quite young and it's not easy to suddenly become the caretaker. But we know he's actually a good kid.
That scene where grandma almost took her own life because of her love for her grandson was quite sad. But it wouldn't have solved anything as it would just place a guilty conscience in Takuya's head (bc again, he's a good kid).
I'm glad that it worked out in the end, but I'm sure irl, it will continue to be a challenge for them. Quite fitting when she started playing Sukiyaki. A good choice for a theme song too.
Also, interesting that Grandma realised Chikara's been observing them from the cafe across their building. I wonder if the other neighbours will also start to notice him as well.
