this is where i'll be posting (mostly?) subbed arashi videos and lyrics translations (including non-arashi). i'm hoping that opening up a community will somehow push me to be less lazy, haha.

sidenote: all the panda gifs come from shirokuma cafe, a slice-of-life anime and one of my all-time favourites. it's hilarious and adorable, and everyone should watch it.

back with episode 4! i rather enjoyed this one. it gets pretty emotional at times, but there's quite a few cute, funny little moments to keep things from getting too heavy. there's even a bed scene...? that's all i'll say, haha.

this episode starts with a 2-3 minute long summary of the previous episodes. there's nothing new in it or anything though, so i didn't translate it.

back with episode 2! might want to grab some tissues, just in case, because this episode is kind of a tearjerker.

subs for episode 2. timed to the magicstar raw on nyaa, untested with the arashigoodies file. i likely won't check it for future episodes either (because i'm lazy).

before watching, please read the translation note regarding the narration if you haven't done so already. (also, i rewrote it a bit for further clarification.)

well, this is my first post of 2022, so... a very belated happy new year! hope you're all keeping safe and healthy.

i'm here with jun's latest drama, tonari no chikara. i knew i would likely pick this up, i just didn't know whether i could really commit. but i'm gonna try anyway.

subs for episode 1. timed to the magicstar 1080p raw on nyaa. i've only skimmed it a little but it seems to also work with the 720p version over at arashigoodies, albeit off by a few frames here and there (though most people probably wouldn't notice).

i have so many feelings towards this song. it's like a love song from the members to one another, a thank you song to the fans, as well as a farewell song somehow (yikes! sorry). i haven't seen the booklet, but from what i found, the kanji lyrics actually spelled "homies" as "hommies". i fixed it here though, sorry sho.

(currently) my favourite b-side on the natsu hayate single. ♥ the lyrics are so lovely, bittersweet and a little melancholic, maybe? i just love the entire rain and umbrella metaphor. plus, the vocals are just gorgeous.

i have to admit i struggled with this translation, though. partly because it's been ages since i last translated lyrics, and partly because i found it a little difficult turning them into pretty english. i'm still not really happy, haha ;; feel free to let me know if you interpreted things differently, or if you have suggestions on how to rephrase certain lines, lol.

THIS SONG. i'm obsessed. aside from the 18+ lyrics (lol whewwww), i'm also just so impressed with the way the singing parts were divided. there's only the three of them this time, but it sounds so incredibly layered, i love it *___* that "ato sukoshi soba de" line before the final chorus... looove. plus, they each have parts where they sing in a certain way that makes me feel all gooey inside, huhu. it's great.

as i was translating, i started interpreting the song as being about a guy unwilling/unable to commit to anything emotional, until he slowly starts realising he finds this girl kind of precious, so he stays a little longer with her (...implying he falls in love imo, haha). of course that's just me, but it does mean it influenced my translation a bit. i'm always open for other interpretations!

i wasn't really planning on translating the theme song for narratage, but reading the lyrics (written by radwimps' vocalist noda yojiro, in the point of view of arimura kasumi's character izumi iirc), i couldn't really resist. they're very poetic, a little melancholic, and rather... wistful? in a way? idk, but i don't think i really did them justice, haha. i tried, anyway! it's a little more liberal than usual, maybe. and i'm still not entirely sure what the "anata iro" part refers to exactly, so i just kept it a little vague.

as i'm typing this right now, the full song still hasn't been released yet, so it's possible i might change some lines later to fit the mood more. that said, i heard parts of the song for the first time today, and it's a lot less melancholy than i initially expected. a little airy, maybe. it's actually pretty nice.

i love this song, everything about it gives off such a sweet and optimistic vibe. listening to it makes me feel all kinds of things, haha. certain parts of the lyrics just really speak to me. ;; i personally also adore the way sho sings "reason for my li~fe" followed by jun's "kizande yukouuu~" ♡

this might be my all-time favourite uverworld song? i'm not sure. but it always kind of gets to me whenever i hear them perform this. i especially love the "aa / suki da yo" line. i just love that sudden simplicity compared to the rest of the (pretty wordy, haha) lyrics ♥

one of the first songs i heard by uverworld, and still one of my favourites. i absolutely adore it when they incorporate the sax in their live performances, it fits the song so well, it kind of makes me wish they'd release a new recorded version with the saxophone included.
